Vintage Colin Bowes Blue Studio Pottery Vase

Cobalt at the rim fading towards aqua and seafoam below. This Colin Bowes studio-pottery vase has a rounded form, matte texture and a carved band of radiating lines around the neck.

Approximately 10 cm across and 8.5 cm high, this small vase holds a lot of surface detail. Blue stoneware, porcelain slip and the cut decoration combine with high-barium and alkaline glazes, oxides and stains to create its layered finish.

Colin Bowes is represented in Australian public collections, including the Castlemaine Art Museum.
